Nuria Bara-Carril
Chartered Clinical Psychologist

Nuria Bara-Carril is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of experience within the NHS and the independent sector.

Nuria has worked in a range of clinical settings, including inpatient services, psychiatric rehabilitation, eating disorders and community mental health. As a senior clinician, she has held a number of leadership roles including two years as the Clinical Lead for Ealing Adult Mental Health Services. Nuria has extensive experience providing training and clinical supervision to psychologists and other mental health professionals. She is currently a part-time Honorary Clinical Teaching Fellow at University College London.

Since 2017 Nuria has focused on expanding her busy independent practice in West London, providing a range of services that include clinical assessment and therapeutic interventions, supportive counselling and coaching, supervision to other professionals, and consultation and training to schools, health providers and other business.

 

In addition to her clinical training, Nuria has completed an MSc in Health Psychology at City University and a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London. She has a sound research background with published work in one of her areas of interest, Eating Disorders.

​Nuria is skilled in helping adults address mild to severe psychological difficulties including anxiety, depression and OCD. She can also help those with concerns around stress, relationships, challenging life events, loss, adjustment to illness, low self-esteem, and unresolved childhood issues.

​Since becoming a mother, Nuria has developed a specific interest in working with maternal mental health and wellbeing. She frequently supports parents as they navigate the new demands, change in role and stresses that come with pregnancy and parenthood.

Nuria has extensive experience in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and other approaches based on CBT, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Behavioural Family Therapy. Her training as a clinical psychologist means that she can also draw upon psychological theory and integrate a range of other therapeutic models (e.g., systemic, narrative, motivational).

Nuria is a Chartered Psychologist and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS). She is registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is on the BPS Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors. Nuria has Full Disclosure and Barring Services checks completed (DBS).

​Nuria can offer individual, group and family interventions in English, Spanish and Catalan.
